Women into home building program: opportunities and perspectives

Home Building Federation (HBF), the leader building federation in the UK, has launched a new stage for the Women Into Home Building program. Its main goal is to attract more women in the building industry, especially in management careers. But what opportunities does this program give, and what are the perspectives of it?

Which opportunities does this program give?

The main idea of this program – is to attract more people in the building industry. Especially in management, equalize gender statistics, and open new opportunities for women. According to a government report, in Great Britain, nearly 16% of women work in the construction industry. And only 4% are employing in building management.

So, the federation attracted nearly 30 companies. They shows how the building industry works, its specialties. The best participants even got the possibility to work in companies where they practice.

Neil Jefferson, Chief Executive at HBF, said: “The home building industry offers a variety of rewarding careers and we must continue to invest in and increase the diversity of our workforce if we are to meet the ambitious housing targets set by the government.

Having women in on-site leadership roles expands perspectives, introduces different leadership styles, and boosts creativity, so we’re pleased to be working with our members once again to deliver the Women into Home Building program.”

What perspectives does the Women into Home Building program have?

This program gives a unique chance for women from various industries to try their hand at construction and possibly get an opportunity to change their lives for the better. As example, in the previous stage of the program, 238 participants were selected. 65 of them became successfully guided candidates through training. And work experience and 20 candidates got employment within the industry.

Neil Jefferson, Chief Executive at HBF, said: “Our program has been developed to increase awareness of the leadership careers available and routes to employment. Whilst giving participants employer-backed knowledge and experience to kick-start their careers.”
