Violation of fire safety techniques is continuing. Now, the problem with ductwork.
The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association has raised the alarm due to a violation of fire safety techniques. Despite many scandals and investigations that happened before, such situations still exist. A new problem has arisen with the quality of ductwork, which may have worse consequences for all participants in the UK building market.
The main source: Ductwork contractors losing out to cost-cutting rivals
What caused this situation?
All begin with the fact that The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association has raised the alarm due to losing contractors. As was founded later, competitive suppliers use unquality materials to decrease prices and attract customers. However, using unquality materials not only gets new projects but also endangers potential residents because the materials used violate all established safety standards.
Chris Ridge, TICA Technical Director said: “There are several manufacturers of PIR board operating in the UK and TICA is aware of only one PIR product that is certified for specific use with externally located ductwork. We have witnessed the use of many different PIR brands and many of these have not been certified for the required application. The supply chain must ensure that the correct products are being used. Manufacturers, distributors, and installers all have a responsibility.”
What are the consequences of this violation?
This situation has a huge influence not only on ductwork manufacturers but also on all building markets.
First of all, price dumping reduces competition between companies to zero. High-quality materials cannot rival low-quality but cheaper materials.
Secondly, low-quality ductwork causes serious safety problems. In emergencies like fires, installed systems cannot fully perform their functions, which causes big problems for firefighters and residents of buildings.
The third factor, a temporary decrease in cost causes decreasing competition, because other manufacturers don`t get a profit and will bankrupt. After that factories that produce inequality ductworks become market monopolists, maintaining their unmarket prices.
Fencyx, as one of the leaders in the UK insulation industry, also follows this situation. For us, safety is a leading part of manufacturing and we promote freedom in market relationships.
