The usage of AI in building projects reaches 75%

A survey conducted by the Association for Project Management (APM) showed impressive growth rates in the use of AI. According to their data, more than 75% of construction companies use artificial intelligence in some way in their work. But in which areas is AI most often used, and how can this affect the construction industry in the future?

The main source: AI uptake in construction projects surges to 75%

The history of developing AI

A similar APM survey in 2023 showed that 63% of construction project managers stated that their organizations did not use artificial intelligence and did not plan to implement it. In 2025, not a single respondent said that their organization does not use artificial intelligence.
Respondents working in construction, whose organizations already use artificial intelligence, gave the following main answers:

  • resource allocation – 62% of respondents said they see benefits
  • reporting and dashboards – 58%
  • risk analysis and forecasting – 52%
  • task and schedule automation – 48%
  • communication with stakeholders – 45%.

APM also found that 82% of those working on construction projects use artificial intelligence more often than expected five years ago, and only 18% say they use it less than expected.

How will it be used in the building industry in the future?

The positive impact that project specialists expect most from artificial intelligence includes:

  • more accurate data analysis – 60%
  • freeing up time for project specialists to work on more strategic directions by automating administrative tasks – 52%
  • stronger cybersecurity – 43%
  • helping in decision-making – 42%
  • reducing project costs – 40%.

APM Chief Executive Adam Boddison said: “The pace at which artificial intelligence is transforming project management is impressive. In just two years, we are seeing a rapid change in adoption levels in the construction sector, and the vast majority of project specialists are now working alongside AI tools to plan and achieve better results. This is not about replacing project managers but about empowering them — freeing up their time, improving analysis, and enhancing the decision-making process.”

Fencyx, as one of the leaders in the UK building industry, positively reacts to these results. We are confident that integrating AI into the construction industry will not only make it more efficient but also enhance safety and streamline workflows. We are already using artificial intelligence in sales and purchasing analytics, cargo loading planning, and preparation of reports.
