Revised fire safety rules will be published next week
Next week, on 27 November 2024, the British Standard Institution (BSI) will publish an updated list of fire safety rules. It will be a large document that we have discussed for a long time and previously mentioned. But what will be changed, and how will these rules influence the building industry?

Which changes will be implemented and why?
The new changes mainly concern implementing rules that improve controllability and increase safety in case of fire in buildings. The new rules also concern people and property that may be damaged by fire.
These innovations were created to provide a “golden mean” between different regulatory acts, which are present in all kingdom subjects. The experience of the Grenfell Tower tragedy was also taken into account.
How will new fire safety guidance influence the building industry?
The innovation will have little impact on the construction industry, and there are several reasons for this. First, the changes will be moderate but will only improve the existing rules. Second, the innovation debate has been going on for a long time, so companies have had a long time to prepare.
BSI standards director-general Scott Steedman said: “The updated BS 9991 guides the design, installation, and maintenance of safety systems in residential buildings, ensuring that effective escape routes and fire safety measures are in place to protect occupants and enhance overall safety.”
Fencyx, as one of the leaders of the UK building industry, mostly reacted positively to these changes. They will not cause serious damage to the construction industry but will help to increase the level of safety of residents.
