Building plans for London’s tallest tower were published

Construction companies have unveiled the plans for the One London project, previously known as 1 Undershaft. The project is valued at £1 billion and aims to become the tallest skyscraper in London. However, what will this project represent, and why is it important for the city’s development?

The project is set to become the tallest tower in the City of London. Also, it must be the tallest office building and the tallest building in Western Europe. Its completion is planned for 2033. The skyscraper will stand 309.6 meters tall and will provide 1.2 million square feet of office space.

Having received full planning approval from the City of London Corporation in December 2025, the project is located at the intersection of Leadenhall Street and St Mary Axe, within a six-minute walk of six Underground lines, the Elizabeth Line. It`s arounded by 1,000 food and beverage venues, and 27 acres of open public space. The deconstruction of the existing building, St Helen’s Tower, is already underway. The appointment of a main contractor is expected later this year. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028 following the completion of demolition and preparatory works, as well as the securing of development financing.
